Join writer, filmmaker, and academic Reid Schultz
on a journey through the changing landscape of American cinema after WWII. Learn about societal
transformations and their effect on the film industry including the '50's boom in TV and other cultural
activities; the loosening of the censorship laws; and
Hollywood studios' loss of control over movie theater chains. Class participants will examine the pioneers of American independent film and how their works were
cinematically inventive, broke boundaries, subverted conventions, and created new genre forms (Orson Welles, John Cassavetes, George Romero, Russ Meyer, Andy Warhol, Mike Nichols, Robert Altman, Francis Ford Coppola, Dennis Hopper, John Sayles and many others). Each week you will hear a lecture on a topic, watch a full length film, and then have a post film analysis and discussion. Withdrawals from this class must be received at least one week prior to the class start date.

What does being a caregiver mean in today's world? As we live longer, caregiving is becoming a reality for more individuals in the community. Come learn about what to anticipate as your loved one 
grows older, at best to prepare yourself for handling life's changes. This session will discuss local and long-distance caregiving, available
resources, and caregiver tips. A caregiver's tool kit will be distributed to each attendee.
