There's a Better Way!The City of Highland Park and the Village of Deerfield are both providing collection receptacles in their police department lobbies. These are available to the public 24 hours a day. This is a way to prevent medication ending up in landfills or in our water system. No needles, sharps, or controlled substances are accepted at any of these sites.
Caruso Grand Friends FundStudents at Caruso Junior High have chosen to give back to their community by supporting a scholarship fund to provide PTC membership and/or program registrations for Deerfield's older adults. Please talk to our social service staff for more information or to see if you meet income qualifications. Art WallThe PTC Members Council purchased gallery fixtures for the walls opposite the Members and Multi-Purpose Rooms so that we can now display the work of our many "resident" artists. We have already enjoyed wonderful exhibits of photography, modern oil paintings and prints. If you are interested in displaying your work, please contact the Center Office. Currently scheduled artists include: The David Marks Family's Mixed Media (September); Ken Duszynski's Photography (October); Ellie Routtenberg's Watercolors & Acrylics (November); and Elana Ashley's Acrylics & Mixed Media (December). Lending ClosetWe lend, on a short term basis, wheelchairs, walkers, canes, bath benches, commodes, grabber sticks, etc. Please contact the front desk for more information. Closet hours: 9:00 am -3:30 pm. Wifi InternetWe have high speed wireless internet access available in our facility -- Reception Room, Conference Room, Atrium, and Library.

SHIP counselors will be at the Patty Turner Center every second and fourth Tuesday from 12:00 - 2:00 and on the first Monday of the month third Monday from 10:00 - 12:00. Cell Phone CollectionPlease drop off your old cell phones at the center. When we accumulate 50 phones, we will send them to a recycler and receive a check. What a great way to help our center and our environment! To date, we have returned over 500 phones and earned $445. |
